Driving Future Focused Collaboration
The Australia-China Innovation Association (ACIA) is currently on the ground in China leading a high-level business delegation focused on strengthening ties in key future-focused sectors. This active mission, running from November 9th to 15th, 2025, is a direct expression of our commitment to fostering innovation and unlocking tangible growth opportunities for Australian enterprises.
The goal is clear: to move beyond dialogue and directly into targeted collaboration. Our delegation, comprised of Australian leaders in sectors including Green Energy, Intelligent Robotics, Electric Vehicle Mobility, and Agri-tech, is executing a demanding itinerary designed for maximum impact.
We have spent the first part of the week in key economic centers, beginning with high-level meetings with municipal governments in Suzhou and Wuxi. These sessions established a foundational understanding of regional investment priorities and created a streamlined pathway for future projects. This government-to-government engagement is crucial, as it de-risks entry and provides essential support for our members.
The core of this mission lies in direct industry engagement. We visited a leading new energy storage and PV manufacturing company in Suzhou, observing their vertically integrated supply chain and discussing partnerships to enhance the resilience of clean energy infrastructure back in Australia. Our schedule also included tours of state-of-the-art facilities run by a major EV control system manufacturer, and in-depth discussions with an automotive company in the electric vehicle industry in Wuxi regarding future mobility solutions.
This week also saw a critical signing ceremony at a prominent technical university in Wuxi, formalizing a partnership to establish an International Innovation Incubator. This initiative will directly link Australian AI and intelligent manufacturing startups with academic talent and resources in China, accelerating technology transfer and commercialization on both sides.
Later this week, the delegation will travel to Hangzhou to explore the future of robotics and volunteer-exchange solutions developed for international-scale events. Our final stop will be in Guangzhou, focusing on smart robotics applications in the building sector before the delegation concludes on the 15th.
The ACIA mission is not a scouting trip; it is an action-oriented platform designed to secure Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), broker partnerships, and accelerate commercial deals. We are proud to be actively promoting sustainable economic growth and look forward to sharing detailed results upon our return.
